Looking back to last week's conversations
Looking forward to this week's conversations
This week we're going to be working with what Harris calls the curriculum of didache. It is also our first full week of working with the cluster questions and focus situation, so I imagine we'll have to work out a "few bugs" along the way. Please be patient and supportive with each other.
The focus situation this week is a brief description of a Sunday school class, written by Anne LaMott and found in her book Grace (Eventually): Thoughts on Faith. The whole book is wonderful, and definitely worth reading, but this week we're simply going to focus on one chapter, entitled "Wailing Wall" which is available both through google.books, and through the MyLutherNet course reserves.
On the resource page, you might want to look in particular at the various Jane Vella handouts, and Benjamin Bloom's verbs handout. You might also find the conversation at the BookofFaith ning site about opening the bible with children, useful.
Individual work
Read Fashion Me a People by Maria Harris and take the book quiz
By Tuesday, comment on one of the group summaries (in a way that is more than simply a "verbal bouquet") or post to the full class discussion thread for the week at MyLutherNet.
On Tuesday, fill out a CIQ for the past week
